Mission Projects

One of the main reasons we exist as a congregation is to share the love of Christ through serving others. We have felt called to partner with other congregations in beginning and supporting several organizations in and around our community. You can learn about a few of these ministries below.

Adopt-a-family

We love to share the spirit of Christmas by participating in the Adopt-a-Family program through Good Samaritan.  Each Christmas, we purchase items for an anonymous family from our community to help them give and receive gifts during difficult times.

build community

Several congregations in Richland County joined together in 2010 to form an organization dedicated to providing home repairs and modification for low-income homeowners. If you would like to participate in Build Community, please call us at 618-392-6101.

fall kids mall

Imagine over 300 children and around 100 volunteers shopping for back-to-school clothing and supplies…all free of charge. This is exactly what happens each year at Fall Kids Mall. In the months leading up to FKM, we collects various clothing and hygiene items.

The Unity Project

We are grateful that one of our members, Bea Gardner, has embarked on a new journey as a full-time missionary. Throughout the year, Bea is involved in several local and international missions. "The Unity Project" is her way of unifying the people of God in mission to a hurting world.

Good Samaritan

Throughout the year, members of First Presbyterian Church can be found serving meals and building relationships at 211 E. Main St. in Olney. If you are interested in serving at Good Samaritan with a group from First Presbyterian Church, please contact our Mission Elder by calling 618.392.6101. We also collect food items for the Food Pantry. You can drop these items off at our cabinet by the Fellowship Hall.

Marion Medical Mission

Water is life! Marion Medical Mission partners with communities in central and southern Africa to help bring sustainable, nearby sources of clean water. Over the past several years, we have raised funds to build several water wells and will continue supporting the work of Marion Medical Mission. For more information, visit http://www.mmmwater.org.

C2 (Church & Community)

The C2 (Church & Community) Project is our emergency relief ministry. Through C2, we are able to make one-time grants to members of our community in difficult situations. This is made possible through the weekly gifts of our young people, who enthusiastically support this much-needed ministry. If you would like to contribute, please call us at 618-392-6101.
